Current Adventures > Paddle Bass Strait
14 - 24 MARCH 2012
Would you paddle in a two-person Kayak across Bass Strait - Victoria to Tasmania?
Just imagine challenging massive waves, fending off hungry sharks, out in the ocean for 7 days, overcoming personal and physical challenges. Sound extreme? Well, a few of us have made the courageous, albeit crazy, commitment to do it! We will be departing Victoria on 14 March 2012!
Our adventure will involve a group of approx 20, including high profile people, sports stars and experienced paddlers such as Brian Freeman, John Jacoby (four times World Endurance Kayaking Champion) and Guy Andrews (three times Uncle Toby’s Ironman) and a few wanna-be heroes!
Wanna come? Thought not…but you don’t get out of it that easily … read on …
In order to participate, we each need to raise a minimum of $25,000 in donations to Bravehearts, all of which is fully tax deductible. Bravehearts deals exclusively with children who have been or are at risk of sexual assault, offering specialist counselling and preventative intervention programs. 1 in 5 Australian children are victims of this insidious crime – Bravehearts’ programs can reduce this statistic by half!
We are prepared to put our own personal safety at risk paddling our hearts out for the vital cause of child protection but we need your support raising funds to make sure kids safety isn’t at risk.
For every $10 you sponsor us, you sponsor one child’s access to Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure, which teaches them life-saving personal safety!
The more money we raise, the more children we protect. Together we will make this happen; together we will empower, educate and protect our kids.
It’s simple - just click the “Donate to Paddle” button and you will become a real hero! Once on our Everyday Hero Team Page, click on the “Donate Now” tab and nominate how much you would like to donate and whom you would like to support; you have officially joined our team. We, on the other hand, have commenced training in how NOT to become shark-bait – a little more complicated but I’m sure you agree ... the kids are worth it!
